Empty Orchestra is an American Musical Group from Flint, Michigan.
We are Empty Orchestra. We began in 2006, out of the remains of several different Michigan bands, as a recording project between friends.
The product of that recording was “Get Well Soon,” an EP released by Michigan-based Acutest Records. The EP displayed the stylistic freedom that the band was created to pursue, based in traditional American forms like folk, country, blues, and rock and/or roll – a format that continues to inspire our songs.
After playing a lot of shows to support “Get Well Soon” and meeting a lot of new people in the process, we partnered with Chicago-based Thinker Thought Records to release our follow-up full-length, “Here Lies Empty Orchestra,” in August 2007. This record showed our evolution over the past year into a collective model of music production, showcasing the talents of no fewer than 10 members. Following the release of “Here Lies...,” we toured more extensively than ever before, and made even more new friends. People said very nice things about the album, and we were excited and thankful.
We are Empty Orchestra, and we are a community. We are made up of friends and members of the Flint and Mid-Michigan independent music community. Our roots are in punk rock and our ambitions are for song creation without boundaries.
We love making songs, we love playing songs, we love you. Thanks. This is fun.
